Drs. Mark Rosenblatt and Gary Lelli teach at the Salzburg Medical Seminar in Ophthalmology

Drs. Mark Rosenblatt and Gary Lelli navigated an ash plume to teach at the Salzburg Medical Seminar in Ophthalmology. The Salzburg Weill Cornell Seminar in Ophthalmology was held from April 18-24, 2010 in Salzburg, Austria and involved nine faculty members from the Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City, The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Retinology and Biomicroscopic Laser Surgery in Vienna, The Rudolph Foundation Hospital in Vienna, Privathospital Wehrle in Salzburg and the Paracelsus Privat Medical University in Salzburg. The course was directed by Dr. Mark Rosenblatt from Weill Cornell and Dr. Susanne Binder from the Rudolph Foundation Clinic. Twenty-nine ophthalmologists attended the course from 16 countries in Europe and Asia.

Administered and funded by the American Austrian Foundation, the Soros Foundation Open Society Institute, the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research and other donors, the Salzburg Medical Seminars had worked since 1993 to improve health care in the countries represented by updating knowledge and experience of physicians and fostering their growth as teachers and leaders in their societies.
